Six teams chase WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup glory in Okinawa and a trophy for the ages

This year marks the 32nd edition of the U-18 Baseball World Cup. Cuba and USA remain the most decorated nations, with 11 and 10 titles respectively, while Japan won it for the first time at the previous edition in 2023.

WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup Super Round and Placement Round to open on Thursday, September 11

The first and second-place finishers of the Super Round will compete in the World Championship game at Okinawa Cellular Stadium on Sunday, September 14, at 16:00 (local time). Cellular Stadium will host six of the nine Super Round games. Korea will play all three night games at Nishizaki Stadium in Itoman.

The game was suspended in the bottom of the third on Day 3, September 7, with Korea leading 13-0 in the bottom of the third. Korea added four runs to close it by the run-difference rule.

Germany took the lead three times and had the potential winning run at second in the bottom of the seventh. Panama prevailed in a three-way tie with Australia and Germany thanks to a better TQB. USA and Chinese Taipei finished first and second in Group B. Japan, Korea, and Puerto Rico qualified from Group A. Korea will complete the game against South Africa on Wednesday, September 10.

China aiming to be proud hosts of WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2027

The WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025 has been a disappointment so far for China. "We aimed for a Super Round spot, but we came clearly short," commented first baseman Hanchen Ou. "There's a lot of work to do on pitchers," added manager Guojun Lai.
